IL WOO Foundation

The Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling social responsibility of a company, and contributes to the national and social development by educating professionals, cultural works and social welfare services.

IL WOO Foundation (former 21st Century's National Research Foundation of Korea) was founded in Feb 1991 by the Hanjin Group, which is a land, sea and air logistics group. Its purpose is to cultivate talents to lead the future Korean society and promote culture projects contributing to the nation's development.

International Scholarship

IL WOO tries to contribute to making the world a better place by cultivating talents to lead the growth of underdeveloped countries.

  • Recipient: Students currently enrolled in a university and holding nationality of the target countries
  • Coverage: Tuition for studying in a university in Korea, living expense and accommodation
  • Selection: Publishing notice in newspapers and selecting recipients in cooperation with a selection committee composed of Ministry of Education and Korean Embassy in each country

Culture and Exhibition Service

IL WOO Foundation holds diverse cultural exhibitions for citizens at the IL WOO space. It contributes to development of Korea’s exhibition culture by displaying works of promising young artists, in addition to holding regular and special exhibitions on photographs and arts.

IL WOO Photograph Award

The Foundation established IL WOO Photograph Award to discover and educate passionate artists in the fields of photographs including arts, advertisement, and documentary as a part of its effort for supporting culture and art. IL WOO is the pen name of the Chairman of Hanjin Group, Yang Ho Cho. The foundation would like to be a stepping-stone for passionate and talented photographers.
